Ah, the castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte! For several years now, the idea had been haunting us to go and see him up close! It is therefore during the 2015 General Assembly, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the association, that we have achieved this objective. The festivities begin at the Réau macaroon estate. The melting and unique taste of Macaroons are appreciated and recognized in France and abroad. Their secrets: A craftsman's know-how and a rigorous selection of added raw materials. A renowned family business for 50 years, and a good start for the weekend!
After this first culinary stage, the focus will be on high-flying techniques with a guided tour of the SAFRAN Group Aeronautics and Space Museum, also in Réau. The Amicale asked for several guides, all former SAFRAN-SNECMA group engineers. The result is an exciting visit, mixed with memories and anecdotes. It is one of the largest European museums dedicated to aeronautics, space and even motorcycles! The highlight of the GA will be the presence among us of three people from Matra automobiles who contributed to the birth of Avantime, Mister Guédon, Mister Bourras and Mister Brossard.

The castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte opens its doors and its history to us for a guided tour in the morning followed by a meal taken on site in one of the former stables. A jewel of French history, this magnificent castle, also known as "le petit Versailles", is one of the most beautiful in the reign of Louis XIV, who, jealous, drew the consequences for Nicolas Fouquet! This year is Nicolas Fouquet's 400th birthday with, for the occasion, a virtual exhibition.
Unfortunately, the turbulent weather will shorten our enthusiasm to spend the afternoon in the gardens, and for some of us to go karting, the Le Mans session in 2013 having left many of us with the desire to do more laps of the track.
