Saturday, October 6
Daniel suggested that we discover Alsace. All participants gather for the Saturday ritual picnic at a rest area on the Selestat side.
The French WRC rally is passing through the area, so we avoid it by taking the Wine Route from south to north.
We will successively cross the villages of Ingersheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr by a senator's train. The free visit of the city will make us discover the typical atmosphere of the Alsatian villages with their half-timbered houses in pastel tones.
The rest of the day will take us to the Haut Koenigsbourg castle. It is from this high point that we admire the Alsace plain despite the foggy ceiling.
On the way to the hotel, we stop for a tasting of Alsatian wine. It is in Saint Hyppolite that the day ends around a baeckeofe, a rich Alsatian dish, before going to gather strength for the next day at the Val Vignes hotel.
Sunday, October 7
First stop of the day, the village of Obernai. The guided tour allows us to discover the city's rich past. Time passes and we take the road again to go to Mont Saint-Odile. This promontory, once a place of surveillance and refuge, is now a monastery that is still visited by many pilgrims. It is in one of the many restaurants that our stay ends !
